With increasing pressure from both America and Israel on Lebanon, fears and concerns are mounting about the possibility of launching a military strike aimed at imposing a new political reality, which brings back the possibility of a new war that Lebanon may face in the near future.

In this context, retired Brigadier General George Nader confirms in an interview with “An-Nahar”: “The military reading confirms that all the Israeli mobilizations and threats indicate an intention for an Israeli strike on Lebanon. Today, the Gaza war has ended, Hamas has accepted the conditions, and peace has been imposed by force on Gaza by Israel and American political pressure. Now, peace may also be imposed by force on Lebanon, after there was an attempt to impose it in a legitimate way through the Lebanese state, but this attempt was not successful.”

Nader adds, explaining that: “Hezbollah refuses to surrender its weapons, and the state has not taken any real steps in this direction. All that has happened is the preparation of a plan for the army, and this does not rise to the level of seriousness required.”

He continues, saying that: “There is no longer room to circumvent the international community. There is an imposed American-Israeli hegemony, whether we like it or not, and this reality cannot be easily changed. Is it required that we destroy what remains of Lebanon and reach what Gaza has reached, or that we preserve what remains and be rational, and read the changes objectively and scientifically, and work to hand over weapons to the Lebanese army, and not lose this opportunity.”
