Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri reported the collapse of the proposed negotiation track between Lebanon and Israel due to Tel Aviv’s rejection of the American proposal. He indicated that the only available track currently is the “Mechanism” which includes the countries concerned with the recent ceasefire agreement. Meanwhile, US envoy Thomas Brack threatened a unilateral Israeli move if Lebanon does not act on Hezbollah’s weapons.

Speaker of Parliament, Nabih Berri, made statements to the “Al-Sharq Al-Awsat” newspaper, confirming the failure of the proposed negotiation track between Lebanon and Israel, due to Tel Aviv’s lack of response to the proposal submitted by the United States of America in this regard. He stated that the only track that remains in place is the “Mechanism” track, which includes representatives from the concerned countries sponsoring the agreement that put an end to the recent war waged on Lebanon last November.

Berri explained that the American envoy, Thomas Brack, informed the Lebanese side that Israel had rejected an American proposal that included launching a negotiation track that begins with a cessation of Israeli military operations for two months, and culminates in the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the occupied Lebanese territories, in addition to launching a track for border demarcation and security arrangements.

In a post on the “X” platform, Brack stated: “The time has come for Lebanon to act on Hezbollah’s weapons,” and warned that “if Beirut continues to hesitate on disarmament, Israel may act unilaterally and the consequences will be dire.”
