The ongoing Israeli attacks on Lebanon, especially in the south, come within the framework of an attempt to complete the achievement of military and political goals that Israel failed to impose during the war, most notably the expulsion of residents, the occupation of southern Litani, and the prevention of reconstruction, stressing that the steadfastness of the people and the sacrifices of the resistance thwarted these plans.
During his participation in a ceremony honoring the martyrs of the town of Aita al-Shaab and in a similar ceremony for the martyrs of the town of Beit Leef, he said: “When we handed the state the responsibility for this file, we were surprised by the extent of the Israeli violation, yet we still insist that the government fulfill its full national duty towards the south, instead of dealing with it as if it were outside the Lebanese geography.”
He affirmed adherence to the land of the south and the ways of daily life in it, even during the olive season near the borders despite the enemy’s threats, considering that this steadfastness is a form of resistance.
Regarding the reconstruction file, he explained that there are three basic priorities: the enemy’s withdrawal from the occupied territories, the cessation of attacks, and the launching of a reconstruction workshop, in addition to the prisoners’ file, which must be at the forefront of national attention.
He said: “There are infrastructure projects funded by foreign grants, and this is good, but reconstruction means the demolished houses, and the government must put in place a clear plan and start implementation gradually as happened after the war.”
He accused internal and international parties of obstructing the arrival of funding and preventing the reconstruction of the south, considering that some banking procedures complete the external siege on people and associations, and stressing that “this path will not continue and those responsible for it will be held accountable when political circumstances allow for it.”
He pointed out that work began immediately after the ceasefire, and that a large part of this work has been completed, while a part remains in the border areas where the occupation continued, promising to complete this path despite the difficult financial circumstances, calling for patience and cooperation until the task is fully completed.
