Analysis indicates a slowdown in the growth of the “ChatGPT” app, with a potential peak in its spread due to market saturation and increasing competition.
A new analysis shows that the mobile chatbot application “ChatGPT” is experiencing a noticeable slowdown in its growth rate, suggesting that the application may have reached its peak spread.
According to Apptopia, an application analytics company, the growth rate of new users, measured by the monthly change in global downloads, has been declining since April. The company explained that the number of daily active users has remained almost stable in recent weeks, while downloads are expected to decline by 8.1% in October.
Despite the application continuing to achieve millions of downloads daily, the slowdown in growth rate may reflect the market entering a saturation phase or escalating competition, especially from Google’s “Gemini” smart assistant.
The analysis indicated that recent changes in the “ChatGPT” AI model, including the April and August updates (GPT-5 model), have made the interaction less appealing to some users. A decrease in the average session duration and number per active user was also observed, coinciding with “Gemini’s” rise in September to the top of competing applications, thanks to its new image creation capabilities via the “Nano Banana” model.
