Comprehensive Strike for Public Sector Workers Protesting Deteriorating Living Conditions
The Association of Public Administration Employees has announced a comprehensive strike in all public administrations and official institutions on Thursday, October 23, in protest against the deteriorating living conditions of public sector workers and the indifference of the authorities.
The association clarified in a statement that this strike comes after the expiry of the deadline requested by the government to consider the rights of workers, and in light of the continuous collapse and the difficult conditions they face.
The statement pointed out that employees’ salaries have become humiliating, services are non-existent, and administrations are collapsing, while officials are watching the situation without taking any tangible measures. The association considered what is happening to be a systematic process to strike the public sector and starve its employees.
The association affirmed that stopping work is not an option or luxury, but a cry of anger and dignity, and that any attempt to procrastinate or circumvent the demands will not pass.
The association called on all employees to fully commit to the strike and participate in the press conference to be held by the gathering of public sector workers’ associations at the center of the Hotel Management School building – Dekwaneh to announce the decisive position on this humiliating reality.
The association stressed that dignity comes first, and that rights are seized, not granted.
