After being crowned the Ballon d’Or for the best player in the world in 2025, Paris Saint-Germain and France star Ousmane Dembélé requested a significant increase in his salary, according to media reports.
According to Radio Monte Carlo Sport, those close to Dembélé, who receives about 1.5 million euros per month as the highest salary among his colleagues, are seeking to invest in his great individual achievement in order to improve his financial agreements with the Parisian club.
The source indicated that the 28-year-old player asked Paris Saint-Germain for a significant increase in his salary, without mentioning the amount of this increase.
The French newspaper L’Equipe also confirmed, citing close sources, that Dembele’s contract, which he signed with Paris Saint-Germain in August 2023, includes a clause that allows him to negotiate with the club’s management to raise his wages, especially if he wins the Ballon d’Or.
Dembele’s contract with the European champion expires in 2028, and the club’s management will have to manage the negotiations over the salary of its first star.
The club’s sports advisor, Luis Campos, told Radio Monte Carlo Sport before announcing the Ballon d’Or winners, “The wage policy applies to everyone, and it will also apply to Dembélé, even if he wins the award.”
The club also rejected the financial requests of its former goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma, even though he was one of the prominent contributors to winning the Champions League last season, which prompted him to leave for Manchester City, England.
