On Tuesday, Meta announced the release of a new update that allows users of the Facebook application to customize algorithm settings to control the posts and short videos that appear to them while browsing the application.
This feature will give users greater control over the content that appears to them, in addition to suggestions provided by artificial intelligence.
This feature will make it easier for Facebook users to express their interest, or disinterest, in the displayed content, by using the settings options, which will prompt the recommendation system to adapt to this type of feedback, according to what was stated in the “Meta” blog.
The company also added the “Save” feature, to collect short clips and favorite posts in one place.
Meta said that this feature will help address user complaints about unwanted content.
This new algorithm seeks to prioritize the most recent content, and will show users 50 percent of short clips that were published on the same day, according to the company.
Facebook will also provide suggestions powered by artificial intelligence, to help browsers discover more content on topics that interest them.
In the section for short clips, the company will add icons that show friends who have liked the post appearing on the screen, such as “Instagram.”
On Monday, Meta announced that it had introduced the same algorithmic modifications to the Instagram platform.
