British Prime Minister Keir Starmer begins a two-day visit to India on Wednesday, accompanied by more than 100 leaders from the business and cultural sectors, in an attempt to support the recently signed trade agreement.

Britain and India signed a free trade agreement last July during a visit by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They concluded an agreement to reduce customs duties on various goods, such as textiles and cars, and increase the ability of companies to access markets.

The talks on the trade agreement concluded last May after intermittent negotiations over three years, as the two countries rushed to conclude the agreement in light of the customs unrest behind US President Donald Trump, according to Reuters.
