Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe announced his full support for Morocco to host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals, stressing that the tournament will be held on its scheduled date despite the protests that some Moroccan cities have witnessed recently.
Motsepe explained during a press conference in Kinshasa, the capital of the Republic of the Congo, on the sidelines of the 47th CAF General Assembly meeting, in the presence of FIFA President Gianni Infantino and a number of heads of national federations, that the position on Morocco is “very clear.”
He stressed that the rumors about postponing the tournament or withdrawing its organization from Morocco are unfounded, stressing that the Kingdom is ready to present an exceptional version of the tournament at various levels.
The thirty-fifth edition of the Africa Cup of Nations is scheduled to be held between December 21, 2025 and January 18, 2026 in six Moroccan cities: Rabat, Casablanca, Tangier, Fez, Agadir and Marrakesh, despite the recent demonstrations that took place in several cities, as protesters called on the government to focus on improving health services and building hospitals instead of hosting major tournaments.
