US Representative Joe Wilson considered that the signing of the “Mecca Joint Defense Agreement” between Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan constitutes a “new achievement” for US President Donald Trump, stressing that it would contribute to enhancing stability, peace and prosperity in the Middle East region.
Wilson said, in a post on the “X” platform, that the agreement comes in light of what he described as the presence of “prosperous Gulf allies, a liberated Syria, and Lebanese-Israeli negotiations,” considering that these developments reflect, from his point of view, the increasing isolation of the Iranian regime, and pave the way for the Iranian people to restore a new government worthy of the country’s history.
Wilson’s statements came after Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan signed, on Friday, the “Mecca Joint Defense Agreement,” during a summit hosted by the Holy City of Mecca, with the participation of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Pakistani Prime Minister Mohammed Shahbaz Sharif.
According to the joint statement issued at the conclusion of the summit, the agreement is based on the bonds of brotherhood, Islamic solidarity, common strategic interests, and existing defense cooperation between the three countries, and aims to enhance their common security and consolidate security and stability in the region and the world.
The agreement also stipulates that any armed attack targeting one of the three countries will be considered an attack on the three countries combined, in addition to strengthening joint deterrence capabilities and developing areas of defense cooperation between Riyadh, Ankara, and Islamabad.
