The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned its citizens and Jews in Greece against approaching dozens of anti-Israel demonstrations and gatherings, calling on them to hide Israeli and Jewish symbols and to refrain from publishing their locations, moment by moment, on social media networks.
According to a report by journalist Gili Cohen on the Israeli Broadcasting Authority “Kan,” pro-Palestinian protests and marches are expected to be held in dozens of locations across Greece, including Athens, Thessaloniki, the islands, and a number of tourist areas.
In light of the expected size of the protests and the possibility of the formation of large gatherings and the outbreak of riots, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommended that Israelis in Greece “exercise a high degree of vigilance, stay away from the sites of demonstrations and gatherings, and avoid any contact or confrontation with the demonstrators.”
The guidelines also stated: “It is recommended to hide Israeli and Jewish symbols, and to refrain from publishing the location of residence in real time on social media networks.”
In another security context, the report indicated that the secret operations arm of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard has been conducting deep operations against Israeli and American targets in the Middle East and beyond for months.
An investigation published by the intelligence blog Intelli Times revealed that the unit known as “Department 4000” operates as Iran’s arm for foreign special operations, and manages Iranian agents who establish “target bases” to carry out attacks using suicide drones and drones.
The targets, according to the investigation, include strategic facilities inside Israel, in addition to bases serving the US Air Force and coalition forces in Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Greece, specifically the island of Crete, in addition to Cyprus.
According to the report, Unit 4000 is also linked to the attempt that was recently revealed and thwarted, among other means, with Israeli intelligence information, to target US President Donald Trump on Turkish soil, while he was there to participate in the NATO summit.
The Israeli warnings reflect the level of concern about the expansion of the protests in Greece, in parallel with security concerns that extend beyond the demonstration squares to secret activities targeting Israeli and American interests in the region.
