Mohamed Salah, 34 years old, became a free player at the end of the season, after agreeing with Liverpool FC to terminate his contract a year before its expiration date.

The Egyptian star’s name has been linked to a move to the Besiktas team in recent weeks.

It was reported that Besiktas offered Salah a contract until 2027, with the option to extend for another season, in exchange for a salary of 12 million euros.

Onder Ozen revealed new details about the negotiations to include Mohamed Salah, stressing that the club has stopped the negotiations permanently, praising the position of the club president, who chose to withdraw out of concern for the club’s principles and not to drift behind populist solutions.

Ozen said in a press conference held on Monday: “I believe that the club president preferred to withdraw from the Salah transfer negotiations without compromising the club’s principles, and I thank him for that. Adhering to these values ​​is the most important, and the Salah file is currently on hold for us.”

Ozen added that the club conducted a comprehensive feasibility study on the deal, which included the marketing aspects and public expectations, stressing that they met with the player three times (him twice, and the Italian coach once) to discuss the project and the tactical aspect, and that this stage went smoothly, but things faltered later on the financial level, which prompted the administration to freeze the file.
