According to Radio Monte Carlo, the petition accuses FIFA and the referees of siding with Argentina and Lionel Messi, and states: “Why compete with the rest of the world when the winner is known in advance?”
The petition exceeded its first goal of collecting five million signatures, and is close to the historical record of 24 million signatures recorded in 1997, which may put it in the Guinness Book of Records.
The campaign did not receive a response from FIFA, while its organizers concluded their message by praising Spain, which snatched the 2026 World Cup title from Argentina with a goal scored by Ferran Torres in the 106th minute of the final match.
