TASS quoted a European source as saying that negotiations on the amended formula did not achieve consensus, and that attempts to approve the package will continue in the coming days, after the adoption of its full version failed on July 15.
According to “Politico” and “Bloomberg,” Greece objected to the ban on transporting Russian liquefied natural gas to third countries via European tankers, due to potential losses to Greek shipping companies.
France and Germany also refused to ban the import of Russian cod and pollock, as local factories rely on them, while Austria opposed the inclusion of Raiffeisen Bank on the sanctions list.
The European Commission presented a mitigated formula that included reducing restrictions on the transportation of Russian gas and excluding a ban on fish imports, but this was not enough to end the disputes. (Russia Today)
