The head of the authority regulating the cultivation of cannabis for medical and industrial use in Lebanon, Dr. Danny Fadel, revealed that qualitative progress has been made in completing the regulatory framework for the sector, explaining that the Civil Service Council has completed a study of the draft regulations, decrees and schedules of the authority in preparation for their official referral in accordance with the rules.

Fadel explained, following a meeting held in the office of the Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Nizar Hani, in the presence of the President of the Civil Service Council, Judge Nisreen Mashmouchi, the Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Republic, Antoine Choucair, and the Minister of State for Administrative Development Affairs, Fadi Makki, that the Council completed the final review of the project after receiving the comments of all the relevant ministries, especially the Ministry of Economy and Trade. He confirmed that the Civil Service Council will send its official letter containing its final opinion before the fifth of next August to complete the legal procedures.

The Chairman of the Authority indicated that upon receiving the official letter, he will call for an emergency meeting of the Board of Directors to approve the final version of the project and quickly refer it to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, stressing that this step is an essential step for moving to the executive stage and opening the door for submitting license applications via a fully prepared electronic platform, ensuring the launch of the sector in accordance with standards of transparency and good governance to support the national economy and agricultural and industrial development.
