A number of shop owners have complained about the resurgence of counterfeit $100 banknotes in the markets, amid fears that they are difficult to detect compared to previous copies.
According to merchants, the signs that previously helped detect the counterfeiting of this currency, such as the sound, color, writing, and some fine details, have become more identical to the original currency, to the extent that they now pass through some old counterfeit currency detection machines, while modern devices are able to detect them.
Merchants pointed out that the most noticeable difference this time is that the texture of the counterfeit paper appears smoother than the original currency.
The counterfeit banknotes currently in circulation bear the date of 2021 and are of the series QC13301119A.
