An informed Iranian official denied the validity of the reports that spoke of the departure of the Iranian negotiating delegation outside the country, stressing that these reports are “unfounded.”
Nour News Agency, affiliated with the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, quoted the official as saying that the Iranian negotiating delegation “did not make any trip outside the country,” stressing that what is being circulated in this context falls within “media disinformation campaigns.”
This denial came after information was circulated about possible diplomatic movements by the Iranian delegation within the framework of the negotiation process, without any official announcement being issued about a foreign visit or negotiating meetings.
In parallel, the Foreign Ministers of China and Pakistan, Wang Yi and Ishaq Dar, called on the United States and Iran to stop hostilities and return to the negotiating table, following a meeting they held in Shanghai.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the two ministers expressed their concern about the deteriorating situation, and urged all parties to immediately stop the fighting and resume dialogue.
US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that Iran wants to hold a meeting to reach a settlement, noting in an interview with Fox Business that the Iranians “want to reach a settlement, and we will see if that can be achieved.”
The exchange of political messages comes at a time when relations between Washington and Tehran are witnessing a continuous escalation, amid continuing regional and international diplomatic efforts to return the two parties to the negotiating track, in light of fears of the widening scope of the confrontation and its repercussions on the security of the region and global energy markets.
