FIFA President Gianni Infantino described the 2026 World Cup as “the greatest edition in the history of the World Cup,” praising during a reception at Trump Tower in New York the great organizational success of the United States. Infantino stressed that the tournament exceeded expectations on all humanitarian, cultural and sporting levels.

The tournament witnessed the breaking of unprecedented records, as the number of audience attendance exceeded 6 million and 665 thousand fans, exceeding the total attendance of the 2018 and 2022 editions combined, with a stadium occupancy rate of 99.7%.

For his part, US President Donald Trump considered the tournament “the largest sporting event in history,” praising its ability to unite the world, and expecting global viewership to reach 6 billion viewers with the conclusion of the final match between Argentina and Spain.
