The US Army announced the destruction of a control tower belonging to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard in the port of Shahid Kalantri in the Chabahar region in southeastern Iran, confirming that the facility was used to monitor and target commercial ships as they crossed the Strait of Hormuz.

The US Central Command (Centcom) said that the air strikes completely destroyed the tower, explaining that it is part of a network of watchtowers spread along the Iranian coast used by the Revolutionary Guard in monitoring and tracking operations.

For its part, the Iranian Tasnim Agency confirmed the destruction of the tower, noting that the area witnessed the sound of three powerful explosions resulting from an American bombing that directly targeted the site.

Media reports reported that this attack was the third of its kind carried out by American aircraft against the site in recent days.

This escalation comes within the framework of the United States expanding its military operations against Iran, as the recent strikes included infrastructure facilities, including bridges linking towns and regions along the Iranian coast overlooking the Gulf, in addition to a railway line and an airport in the Sistan and Baluchestan province, as well as targets in Hormozgan province.

The confrontation between Washington and Tehran has escalated in recent days, with the continuation of American strikes on sites inside Iran, in exchange for Iran’s announcement of carrying out attacks targeting American bases and interests in the region.
