The French Football Federation may be forced to request an exception to exceed the laws regarding the salaries of the first team’s technical staff, in preparation for the appointment of French football legend Zinedine Zidane as the new coach of the “Roosters”, according to a report published by the French newspaper “L’Equipe”.

The newspaper indicated that Zidane’s contract may require special approval from the Ministry of Sports, as French law sets the ceiling for the first team coach’s salary at 450,000 euros in total annually, since the salaries of the technical staff are paid from the ministry’s budget.

L’Equipe added that the French Federation will seek an exception if it wants to give Zidane a salary that exceeds this limit, expecting that the decision will not face official objections, in preparation for the former Real Madrid coach’s arrival to lead the national team.

The French Federation is expected to announce in the last week of July the appointment of Zidane as successor to Didier Deschamps, whose contract expires after the 2026 World Cup.

It is noteworthy that Zidane has not had any coaching experience since his departure from Real Madrid in 2021, in his last stop at the helm of a team, before he was chosen to succeed Deschamps.
