The escalation returned to the forefront in Yemen, after air strikes targeted, on Monday afternoon, a runway inside Sanaa International Airport, in a new development that brought tension back to the field scene, amid an exchange of accusations and threats of response.

The Yemeni armed forces of the internationally recognized government claimed responsibility for bombing the airport.
In this context, the Ministry of Defense called for the evacuation of Sanaa International Airport, warning against approaching it, stressing in an official statement published by the “Saba” agency that it will deal with any party or aircraft that attempts to penetrate Yemeni airspace or violate the procedures and instructions issued by the competent authorities.
On the other hand, the Ansar Allah “Houthi” group accused Saudi Arabia of carrying out the bombing, vowing to respond.
The group’s military spokesman, Yahya Saree, said: “In an unjust and blatant aggression, the criminal Saudi enemy targeted Sanaa International Airport with a number of air strikes, thus ending the de-escalation phase, and it must bear the consequences of its aggression.”
He added: “We affirm that this aggression will not pass without response and punishment.”
Later, the Foreign Ministry of the Houthi government issued a statement in which it said, “Saudi Arabia, in an unprecedented step, struck Sana’a airport, thus ending the phase of de-escalation and ceasefire, and declared the beginning of the war.”
Saudi Arabia has not issued any comment on the bombing yet.
