The Kirkuk Criminal Court, the Second Tribunal, issued a present sentence of two years of severe imprisonment against the former assistant director of real estate registration in Kirkuk, after convicting her of intentionally causing damage to public funds.

The Integrity Commission explained that the ruling was based on Article 340 of the Penal Code, in addition to Subscription Articles 47, 48 and 49, noting that the convict promoted a sale transaction for a property belonging to the Kirkuk municipality after distorting the property number and exploiting her job powers, which led to intentional damage to state funds.

The authority added that the evidence and proof presented in the case was sufficient to convict the accused and issue a ruling against her.

This ruling comes within the framework of the “Prayer of Dawn” campaign launched by Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi, which aims to prosecute those involved in corruption cases, recover public funds, and reorganize state institutions.

The campaign includes opening real estate and real estate registration files in Kirkuk, with the aim of dismantling networks of manipulation of public property and recovering state land and real estate.

The Integrity Commission confirmed that the rulings issued based on Article 340 reflect the continuation of the first phase of the campaign, stressing that the government is continuing with its measures to combat corruption and impose the rule of law without exception.
