Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi responded to the recent statements of US President Donald Trump, stressing that insulting the Iranian people “will not diminish their greatness,” and that Tehran prefers to respond with actions, not words.

Araqchi said, in a post on the “X” platform, that addressing the Iranian people “in insulting language does not detract from their greatness,” noting that Iranians have been known throughout history for their civilization, culture, and adherence to moral values.

He added: “We do not respond to obscenity with obscenity, but rather with action, without fear and with great courage,” indicating that his country will not be drawn into exchanging insults, and will continue to defend its interests.

Araqchi’s statements came in response to statements made by Trump on the sidelines of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit, in which he declared that he did not wish to continue dealing with Iran or resume negotiations with it, stressing that the ceasefire with Tehran “is over for him.”

Trump also stressed that the United States will not allow Iran to possess a nuclear weapon, and attacked the Iranian leadership, considering any new negotiations with it a “waste of time.”

The war of statements comes in light of the escalation of tension between Washington and Tehran, and the continuing disagreements regarding the Iranian nuclear program and the future of any negotiating path between the two countries.
