The guillotine of results is hitting hard.. The World Cup is devouring its coaches

The series of departures of coaches of the teams participating in the 2026 World Cup, held in the United States, Mexico and Canada, continued after the results caused a wave of technical changes, the most recent victim of which was Frenchman Hervé Renard.

Renard put an end to his short career with the Tunisian national team, after he took over the task during the current World Cup, succeeding Sabri Lamouchi, and failed to save the “Eagles of Carthage” from early exit.

The French coach announced his departure, on Saturday evening, via his Instagram account, saying: “Before leaving, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Al-Ittihad, which gave me the opportunity to participate in the 2026 World Cup. It was an honor for me to wear the colors of the Tunisian national team, and to live an unforgettable experience.”

He added: “I wish success to the Tunisian national team in the future, and I am convinced that it will continue to advance in order to make the entire nation happy and to write beautiful chapters of history.”

He continued: “Thank you to everyone who supported me during this adventure. I wish you success in the future. My adventure has reached the end stage.”

Renard was not the first victim of Tunisia’s failure in the tournament, as he was preceded by Sabri Lamouchi, who left after a harsh loss to Sweden 1-5 in the opening round of Group Six.
Renard took over as his successor, but the results did not improve, as the Tunisian team lost to Japan 0-4 in the second round, before falling to the Netherlands 1-3 in the final round, leaving the tournament in the first round.
