Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced that Netanyahu held a phone call today with US President Donald Trump.
The office explained that the call dealt with relations between the United States and Israel, noting that Netanyahu and Trump agreed to hold a meeting soon in Washington, DC.
The office quoted Netanyahu as saying during the call that “the United States is the guarantor of global freedom,” stressing that Israel greatly values the close relations between the two countries.
This contact comes in light of the continued political coordination between Washington and Tel Aviv regarding a number of regional files, most notably developments related to Iran, and the situation in Gaza and Lebanon, in addition to consultations on the future of security arrangements in the region after the ceasefire. The upcoming meeting between Trump and Netanyahu is also preceded by a round of American diplomatic moves, which gives it special importance as the two sides seek to coordinate their positions on the regional and international issues at hand.
