US Treasury Secretary Scott Besent confirmed that China has become the only country that continues to buy Iranian oil, noting that other potential buyers are reluctant to deal with Tehran for fear of being exposed to US sanctions.
In an interview with Fox News, Besant said that Iran is facing difficulty in marketing its oil, adding that it resorts to selling it at reduced prices, but revenues remain limited as a result of the pressures and sanctions imposed on it.
He explained that the US administration is closely monitoring the activity of companies operating in the oil sector, to ensure that they are not exploiting price fluctuations in the markets, stressing the continued monitoring of Iranian oil trade and the application of sanctions to prevent any attempts to circumvent it.
Besant stressed that Washington will continue its policy of pressure on Tehran until it adheres to international conditions related to its nuclear program.
Regarding the economy, the US Treasury Secretary expected that the jobs data for June would show a strong performance, considering that the US labor market is still maintaining its momentum despite the current economic challenges.
