The Ministry of Energy and Water issued a statement in which it responded to citizens’ complaints about the lack of a decline in fuel prices locally to match their decline globally, and clarified that the price schedule is based on a scientific equation that includes fixed and dynamic elements and is not limited to the global price only.

The Ministry attributed this disparity to the General Directorate of Customs starting to implement Decree No. 3214 issued on June 15, 2026, which stipulates the collection of new fees on waste-producing materials, including fuel, which limited the size of the supposed decline in prices.
The Ministry confirmed that it is conducting extensive contacts with the relevant ministries to quickly exempt fuel from these fees.
