The prices of coffee belonging to famous brands in Germany began to decline, followed by a wave of price reductions approved by major food chains, thus ending the train of successive rises that had burdened consumers for years.

A recent survey showed that major discount store chains, such as Lidl, Kaufland, and Aldi, took the initiative to reduce commercial coffee prices by up to 10%, and these reductions extended to include most of the major companies in the retail sector, which announced their intention to adjust prices in line with market developments, after they had previously reduced the prices of their own brand products.

This step comes after a wave of record highs that resulted from increased costs of raw materials and weak crops in major coffee-producing countries, especially Brazil, due to drought waves. Although prices have begun to gradually decline in German markets, data from the Federal Statistical Office indicate that current coffee prices are still much higher than their levels recorded in 2020, which means that the markets have not fully recovered to levels before the global crisis.
