The French Football Federation announced the death of the mother of national team coach Didier Deschamps, which prompted him to leave the “Roosters” camp in the United States and return to France to attend the funeral.

The French Federation said in a statement that Deschamps received “very sad news,” and he will be by his family and loved ones in these circumstances.

The statement explained that Deschamps will not be on the bench in France’s final group stage match against Norway on Friday.

The federation added that, in agreement with its president, Philippe Diallo, Deschamps assigned his assistant Guy Stephan to lead the national team until his return.

The statement concluded by noting that the members of the French national team were greatly affected by the news their coach received.
