Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday that the military campaign targeting Tehran had created conditions that could lead to the fall of the Iranian regime in the future.

“I believe we have created the conditions for its downfall in the future,” Netanyahu said during his participation in the GNS International Policy Summit in Jerusalem, adding that “the real victory will be when the Iranian people take their fate into their own hands and topple this regime.”

Regarding the nuclear file, Netanyahu renewed his pledge to prevent Iran from possessing a nuclear weapon “under any circumstances,” stressing that for him this matter represents a “sacred goal.”

“No matter what the political developments are, I will not allow Iran to possess nuclear weapons. As long as I am the prime minister of Israel, this will not happen,” he said, adding: “I have dedicated my life to this sacred goal.”

Regarding the Lebanese issue, Netanyahu confirmed that the Israeli army will continue to remain in the buffer zone in southern Lebanon as long as this is deemed necessary to protect Israel’s security.

He said: “We have achieved great achievements and we will not abandon them. We will remain in the security zone in southern Lebanon as long as this is necessary to protect the residents of the north and the citizens of the entire country.”

Netanyahu’s statements coincide with the launch of negotiations between Washington and Tehran in Switzerland, while US President Donald Trump renewed his threat to bomb Iran if Hezbollah continues to “stir up problems,” as he put it.

Trump wrote on the Truth Social platform: “Iran must immediately stop its highly paid agents in Lebanon from causing trouble,” referring to Hezbollah.

He added: “If they do not do so, we will strike Iran with great force again, just as we did last week, and even stronger.”
