The American website “The Athletic” revealed that fans of the Scotland national team booed Achraf Hakimi, the right-back of Morocco, during the match in which the “Atlas Lions” won with a goal to no return in the 2026 World Cup.

Morocco dedicated the first victory to the Arab teams in the current edition of the 2026 World Cup, currently being held in the United States, Mexico and Canada, after defeating Scotland in the second round of the third group of the group stage, on Saturday.

According to the American website, boos followed Hakimi every time he touched the ball during the match, and the report added: It started as a faint noise before its echoes escalated in Gillette Stadium.

“The Athletic” added: When Hakimi advanced to take a corner kick in the 20th minute, the whistles rang out, and the matter was repeated in the 39th minute when Kieran Tierney was blocked to prevent Scotland from launching a counterattack.

“The Athletic” indicated that the whistles came after the Court of Appeal in Versailles, France, announced that the Paris Saint-Germain defender would be tried on charges of rape before the Criminal Court.
