The Canadian national team achieved its first victory in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, after defeating Qatar by six unanswered goals, on Friday, in the second round of the second group competitions.








The match was held in Vancouver, where the hosts imposed their rhythm early, and Kyle Larin opened the scoring in the 16th minute, before Jonathan David added the second goal in the 29th minute. David returned to score again in the 45th minute + 3, giving Canada a clear advantage before the end of the first half.

In the second half, the Canadian team continued its pressure, with Nathan Saliba scoring the fourth goal in the 64th minute, before Mohammed Al-Mannai added the fifth goal by mistake against his country’s team.

In the 90+2 minute, Jonathan David completed his personal hat-trick, scoring Canada’s sixth goal.

The Qatari team played with nine players after Hammam Al-Amin was sent off in the 33rd minute, then Asim Madibo in the 54th minute.

With this victory, the Canadian team raised its score to 4 points at the top of Group B on goal difference against Switzerland, bringing it close to qualifying for the round of 32, while Qatar’s score remained at one point, and now it is required to win over Bosnia and Herzegovina in the final round.
