US President Donald Trump congratulated his country’s national team after its 4-1 victory over Paraguay in the opening of the two teams’ journey in the FIFA World Cup.

Trump wrote on his official account on the social media platform “Truth Social” on Saturday: “I congratulate the American team on its great 4-1 victory over the distinguished Paraguay team. Keep it up.”

This victory, which was achieved in Los Angeles on Friday evening, is an ideal start for the United States, which is organizing the World Cup jointly with Mexico and Canada.

The American team will play in the group stage against Australia and Turkey.

Trump did not attend his country’s match against Paraguay, but Foreign Minister Marco Rubio was present in the stands.

It has not yet been announced whether Trump will be present in his country’s remaining matches in the World Cup, but it is certain that he will be present in the final match that will be held on July 19 in New Jersey to hand over the cup to the winning team.
