The Indian Air Force announced that an An-32 military transport plane crashed while landing at the Jurat Air Base in the northeastern state of Assam.

According to initial reports, the plane fell inside the air base during the landing, causing a fire to break out after it crashed.

The Indian Air Force confirmed that a special committee will be formed to investigate the circumstances of the accident and determine the reasons that led to the plane crash.

For his part, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said: “We are aware of the crash of the Indian Air Force transport plane in Jorat, and are awaiting further details.”

In a later statement, the Indian Air Force announced that 5 soldiers were killed in the accident, while one person, the co-pilot, survived.

She added that the only survivor was taken to the hospital to receive treatment, while investigations continue to uncover the circumstances of the accident.
