Argentine star Lionel Messi, captain of Inter Miami, was selected in the starting lineup for the “All-Star” match in the American Football League, scheduled for July 29 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The American League stars team faces a team of Mexican League stars in the annual match that brings together the most prominent players in the two competitions.

The starting lineup was chosen through a joint vote in which players, fans and the media participated, and included a number of stars participating in the World Cup, most notably Messi and South Korean player Son Heung-min, Los Angeles FC player.

The list also included Americans Tim Ream and Sebastian Berhalter, and South African Mbekizile Mbokazi, along with a group of the league’s most prominent players this season.
