The trial of Australian driver Joey Mawson, accused of raping a nurse working in the mansion of former Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher in Switzerland, revealed new and poignant details about the strict medical regime and the exhaustion surrounding the care of the German legend.

The details of the case go back to the year 2019, when Mawson – a close friend of Schumacher’s son who is currently arrested due to a doping scandal – faced accusations of forcibly assaulting the nurse in her room inside the palace, which was supported by court documents, medical evidence, and the presence of traces of blood, while the accused denied this, claiming that the relationship was consensual despite sending him a text message of apology later.

During the trial sessions, the nurse’s lawyer highlighted the nature of the work inside the Schumacher home, describing it as extremely exhausting physically and emotionally, as the family imposes a strict fence of secrecy that prevents employees from talking about the details of their daily lives even with their friends, which places enormous pressure on them in addition to the continuous 24-hour care for Schumacher since his famous skiing accident in 2013.

The lawyer praised his client’s proficiency and passion in performing the most difficult medical tasks, as testified by the Schumacher family itself, pointing out that she was subjected to a double blow after she was dismissed from the medical team a year after the incident for reasons unrelated to the aforementioned incident.
