
He pointed out that “the continuation of these dangerous practices turns some lines into anonymous tools that are exploited by organized networks and gangs active in fraud, fraud, extortion, theft, drug trafficking and other crimes, which makes citizens victims of these networks that move freely and use means of communication that are not subject to any actual oversight or legal tracking.”
He called on the Ministry of Communications to “take decisive and immediate measures, re-tighten the work mechanisms of operating companies, and oblige all points of sale to fully comply with the approved conditions and controls.” He called for “establishing a clear mechanism that regulates the access of foreigners, including displaced Syrians and other nationalities, to communications lines in accordance with legal and administrative procedures that guarantee the protection of public security and prevent any illegal use of these lines.”
