Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, commenting on preferential prices for Russian gas to Armenia, noted the fundamental difference in the approach of Russia and the United States to gas supplies to their partners.

He said that any price preference comes at the expense of another party, stressing that the support provided to Armenia comes at the expense of Russia, describing the price of gas provided to Armenia as Russian assistance to a brotherly country.

He added: “Armenia is a brotherly country, and it was and still is, but this support comes at our expense. We must call things by their proper names. It is our assistance to Armenia. For example, when gas is currently sold to the Europeans for 500-700 dollars, no one helps them. The Americans “help” the Europeans at their own expense at exorbitant prices.”

Peskov also stated that Armenia’s membership in the Eurasian Economic Union brings it a stable increase in GDP, adding that assessing whether European integration is able to provide similar returns is a matter for Armenians themselves to decide.

Peskov noted that European Union membership remains an unattainable dream for many countries, citing the example of Türkiye as evidence of this. (Russia Today)
