German club Bayern Munich announced on Sunday that veteran goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, the team’s captain, will temporarily reduce his participation in matches due to an injury to his left leg muscle.

Neuer was substituted during the Cologne match in the German Football League yesterday, Saturday, after complaining of an injury.

There are doubts about the veteran goalkeeper’s readiness to participate in the German Cup final on May 23, or the possibility of joining the German national team roster that will participate in the World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Neuer retired from international football after the end of the Euro 2024 Championship, but media reports confirmed that he will return again to the German national team and will be the starting goalkeeper once he is physically ready.
German national team coach Julian Nagelsmann avoided confirming this news during his appearance on a television program on the ZDF channel, on Saturday.

Former Bayern Munich coach Nagelsmann said that he wanted to talk to all the players before announcing the list, noting that that had not happened yet.

Hoffenheim goalkeeper Oliver Baumann remains the primary goalkeeper for the German national team currently, noting that Nagelsmann will announce the preliminary list for his country next Thursday.
