The system, which was unveiled during the “Android Show” event, which precedes the annual “Google” conference, is expected to begin rolling out to “Pixel” devices and some “Samsung” phones in the coming months.
Artificial intelligence revolution
The most prominent feature of “Android 17” is the integration of the new artificial intelligence system, “Gemini Intelligence,” which makes the phone more capable of carrying out tasks automatically.
“Android 17” can manage email, create custom widgets on the home screen, and even execute complex commands across applications using natural language.
Google also added improvements to the Gemini Assistant within the Chrome browser, making it able to summarize pages and perform actions such as booking appointments or filling out forms automatically.
New tools
“Android 17” offers the “Create My Widget” feature, which allows the user to create custom “Widgets” on the main screen via a simple description of what he wants. Audio tools have also been improved to include the “Rambler” system, which turns random speech into organized and usable texts.
For content makers, the system added the “Screen Reactions” feature, which allows the screen and front camera to be recorded simultaneously, making it easier to produce interactive videos without the need for external tools.
A new visual experience
As part of the visual updates, Google has redesigned more than 4,000 “emoji” symbols, in a move aimed at improving the conversation experience on Android and keeping pace with competing operating systems.
Digital luxury
“Android 17” added a new tool called “Pause Point,” which aims to reduce addiction to using applications. When opening applications such as social networks, a short delay of 10 seconds appears with options to change behavior or pause. This step comes within Google’s direction to promote digital health and reduce excessive phone use.
Security improvements
The update also focused on security, enhancing malware detection, adding protection against fraudulent calls, improving stolen phone protections via a remote biometric lock and reducing repeated password attempts.
Easier sharing
One of the most notable surprises is the expansion of the “Quick Share” feature to become compatible with “AirDrop” on Apple devices, allowing files to be transferred easily between different systems, in addition to supporting data transfer when moving from “iPhone” to “Android” more smoothly.
