In a move that reflects continued US military support for Israel, the US State Department announced its approval of a potential sale that includes 10,000 high-precision APKWS missiles, along with related equipment, with a total value estimated at $992.4 million.

The US State Department explained in an official statement that the deal comes within the Foreign Military Sales program, and includes Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS), noting that its aim is to enhance Israel’s ability to target targets accurately, while reducing collateral damage.

This decision comes at a time when US President Donald Trump previously called on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to adopt precise strike tactics in his military operations in Lebanon.

This step coincides with the continuation of Israeli raids on several areas in southern Lebanon, in a continuing violation of the US-brokered ceasefire.

Trump had previously announced a ten-day ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel, starting at midnight on April 16, before later announcing its extension for an additional three weeks on April 23.
