Syria and Jordan: Signing 9 agreements and memorandums of understanding to strengthen economic cooperation

At the conclusion of the activities of the second session of the Supreme Coordination Council between Syria and Jordan at the ministerial level, nine agreements and memorandums of understanding were signed between the two countries on Saturday.

These agreements and memorandums of understanding, which were signed in the Jordanian capital, Amman, covered various fields such as industry and trade, health, social affairs, endowments, higher education, justice and judiciary, media, and tourism, in addition to the postal and electronic payment sectors.

According to the Syrian News Agency, SANA, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Asaad Al-Shaibani, headed the Syrian delegation to this meeting, while Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Al-Safadi, led the Jordanian delegation.

The meetings of this session witnessed a wide participation of 131 members from both sides, including ministers and officials representing 19 different sectors, which highlights the large size of representation and the importance of the issues addressed on the agenda.

The Supreme Coordination Council represents an institutional framework for cooperation between Syria and Jordan. It was established in May 2025, and aims to coordinate policies and enhance integration between different sectors through periodic meetings held every six months, in addition to following up on the implementation of decisions issued through specialized committees.
