Fierce controversy and a sudden handshake: The events in Islamabad raise great astonishment

The region is witnessing rapid political and military developments, coinciding with faltering negotiations between the United States and Iran in Islamabad, Pakistan. Indicators fluctuate between signs of calm and signs of escalation.

In this regard, the newspaper “Israel Hayom” reported that Pakistan intervened to calm the tense atmosphere in the negotiations after a sharp argument between the American and Iranian delegations. The newspaper added that the head of the Iranian delegation, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, shook hands with the US Vice President during the meetings.

At the same time, Pakistani media quoted two sources as saying that US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner were still in Islamabad, and indicated that the ceasefire between Washington and Tehran would continue until April 21.

On the other hand, Israeli Channel 14 sources revealed that Israel expressed its satisfaction with the United States’ decision to end negotiations with Iran, considering that this step reflects the determination of US President Donald Trump to remove enriched uranium from Iran, and to separate the Lebanese arena from the direct confrontation with Tehran.
