“Snapchat” announced a new alliance that brings together its unit specialized in augmented reality glasses, “Snap Spectacles,” with “Qualcomm,” in preparation for the launch of a new generation of augmented reality glasses in the near future.
According to the announcement, the new glasses will be based on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR platforms, which are integrated systems on a single chip, specifically designed to run augmented reality and virtual reality technologies with outstanding performance.
This cooperation aims to develop the artificial intelligence capabilities integrated into the device, improve the quality of graphics, and provide advanced digital experiences that support multiple users, within a long-term strategic agreement between the two companies.
This announcement comes as Snap continues to develop its smart glasses project for more than ten years, as the last version intended for users appeared in 2019, before it turned in 2024 into an exclusive version for developers, in preparation for the launch of a new, more advanced version.
Through this cooperation, the company aspires to strengthen its position in the wearable devices market, and compete with major companies in the field of augmented reality.
