French President Emmanuel Macron expressed, on Wednesday, his welcome of the truce announced between the United States and Iran, stressing the need to expand its scope to include Lebanese territory.
In his statement, Macron also stressed the importance of full compliance with all conditions of this agreement throughout the region.
He explained that Iran’s announcement of its readiness to open the “Strait of Hormuz” is considered a positive matter, pointing to the vital role that this waterway plays in ensuring the stability of energy markets and international shipping traffic.
He added that the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran should extend to Lebanon as well, noting that the situation in Lebanon is still tense due to continuing tensions on the “southern front.”
At the conclusion of his statement, the French President stressed the need to fully adhere to the terms of the agreement, considering that establishing peace and stability in various conflict areas represents a basic condition for reducing escalation and avoiding the worsening of the situation towards a broader conflict.
