Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi warned United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in a letter that targeting Iranian nuclear facilities, including the Bushehr plant, poses a serious radiological threat to the entire region.
Araqchi explained in his letter that the UN Security Council and the International Atomic Energy Agency did not take any steps to stop or even condemn the attacks that targeted Iranian nuclear facilities.
He stressed that the repeated attacks near the Bushehr nuclear plant raise serious concerns about the possibility of a radioactive leak.
In a previous comment on an attack that occurred near the Bushehr station, “Araqchi” wrote on the “X” platform: “Do you remember the Western anger over the hostilities near the Zaborzhya nuclear station in Ukraine? The United States and Israel have bombed our facility in Bushehr four times so far.”
He added, “Any radioactive deposition will destroy life in the capitals of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and not in Tehran,” considering that targeting petrochemical factories shows the real goals behind these attacks.
It is noteworthy that the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization had previously announced that three missiles had fallen near the Bushehr nuclear plant on March 17, 24, and 27.
It is worth noting that the Bushehr station is the first Iranian nuclear station in operation, and is located about 17 kilometers from the city of Bushehr on the Gulf coast.
