The municipality of Dibal issued a strongly worded statement expressing its strong denunciation of the actions committed by the Israeli army inside the town, especially the house bombings, a full month after the start of the war.
The municipality confirmed that Dibal is “a peaceful town that has nothing to do with this war,” but it is nonetheless paying very high prices in terms of security and stability, noting the ongoing tragedies that residents are experiencing, starting with their direct targeting and ending with the destruction of their homes, which embodies the extent of the suffering that the people of the town are enduring.
The statement also stated: “We are tired of building our homes, our livelihood, and our town, and we cannot stand helpless in the face of its destruction. We are a peaceful people who want to live in dignity,” noting that the residents feel that the state has “abandoned them,” despite their clinging to their land and their firm belief that “the dawn will rise again.”
The statement continued: “The municipality of Dibal calls on the international community, especially the United Nations, the Vatican, the Ambassador of the United States of America, and other concerned countries, to intervene immediately to stop this destruction and put an end to the suffering of the people.”
The statement concluded with a categorical affirmation of the town’s people’s adherence to their land, their inherent right to life, and their solid will to live in safety and peace, despite all the difficult and harsh circumstances they are experiencing.
