The Israeli army announced on Tuesday that it is continuing to carry out its military operations in both Iran and Lebanon “according to a fixed plan,” stressing that these field movements will not be affected by any negotiations aimed at stopping hostilities.
Israeli army spokesman Evi Dufrin stated in a press conference that Israeli forces will continue to “deepen the damage and remove existential threats,” adding: “We are moving and will continue to move to deepen the damage and remove existential threats. We are launching strikes in both Iran and Lebanon.”
This statement comes at a time when there is increasing talk about diplomatic efforts to cease fire, while military operations continue on several fronts.
On the other hand, statistics vary regarding the number of victims. The human rights agency “Hrana” reported that the number of deaths in Iran reached 3,230 people, including 1,406 civilians and 210 children, based on information from field and medical sources.
In Lebanon, the authorities announced the killing of about 1,029 people as a result of Israeli raids since March 2, including more than 100 children, according to the World Health Organization and local health authorities.
The continuation of operations, despite talk of negotiations, reflects a trend towards maintaining military pressure in parallel with the political track.
