The Saudi Football Federation reported that player Zakaria Hawsawi, one of the first team players, suffered a knee injury, which forced him not to complete the team’s training.
The Saudi national team is scheduled to meet its Egyptian counterpart in a friendly match in Jeddah next Friday, before traveling to face Serbia four days later.
The Saudi Football Federation stated on its official website: “On Monday evening, the first national team continued its training in Jeddah Governorate, as part of its preparatory camp held within the framework of the third phase of the preparation program for the 2026 World Cup.”
The statement added: “The Green players conducted their training session at the training field at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, under the supervision of coach Hervé Renard, and the player Zakaria Hawsawi did not complete the training session because he felt pain in his knee.”
It is noteworthy that Hawsawi, who is 25 years old, is currently playing for Al-Ahly Saudi Arabia on loan from Al-Raed Club.
The local federation also announced that Ali Lagami, the Al Hilal player, had joined the first team’s training, coming from the second team’s camp, after being summoned by coach Renard.
In a related context, the Saudi Federation added that “Hassan Al-Tembakti (Al-Hilal defender) completed his treatment program accompanied by the team’s medical staff.”
It is worth noting that the Saudi national team is in Group Eight of the World Cup scheduled to be held in North America next summer, which also includes the teams of Spain, Uruguay and Cape Verde.
