After news circulated about a warning to evacuate Doha, Iranian television apologized to its viewers and readers, stressing that the news it published was inaccurate.
The television reported in an official statement that the circulating news was not based on any official sources, as reliable sources denied the accuracy of the information. The statement added that the news was published based on information from internal sources, and was deleted as soon as it was confirmed to be false.
It is noteworthy that Iranian media had previously published news about a warning attributed to the Revolutionary Guards, calling on Doha residents to leave specific areas that were alleged to host American interests, forces, and media platforms hostile to Iran.
The image that was circulated, bearing the logo of the Revolutionary Guards, included an urgent call to leave the area “as soon as possible,” describing it as a “legitimate target.”
This apology comes amid a tense atmosphere in the region, after the Qatari Ministry of Defense announced that the country was being attacked by ballistic missiles and drones, confirming that the Qatari air defenses were able to intercept them.
Later, Iranian television retracted the validity of the warning, offering its apology for publishing the news without verifying its credibility, which ended the controversy that the warning had sparked “during the past hours.”
